150 Health Problems that are Rooted in Poor Breathing Habits

90% of us Breathe Incorrectly

If Normal Breathing is Restored, Symptoms will go Away

Disease itself can Disappear

Asthma

By learning to use the Buteyko Breathing techniques, I can now live a normal life and be free of needing to use asthma medications. I can go hiking in the mountains, ride my bicycle, have a good laugh without fear of an asthma attack.

Allergies

Yes, Allergies and Hay Fever are real conditions. When allergies or hay fever kick in, our nervous system increases breathing rate and we hyperventilate. This changes our body’s internal chemistry and begins to cause our immune system to become over active. When we practice Buteyko techniques we can slow breath rate, volume and hyperactive immune system. Allergy symptoms can be reduced in just a few weeks.

Anxiety/Panic

Erratic and irregular breathing patterns combined with excessive stress can affect the breathing rate and volume and create enormous anxiety and if the rate is extreme it becomes a panic attack. Smooth muscles surrounding blood vessels narrow, blood pressure increases and blood flow to our brain can reduce, causing the attack. Learning to breathe properly with Buteyko techniques connects us to our inner body and calms our anxiety.

Sports

Most recreational, amateur and elite athletes say that their breathing holds them back from being as successful as they would like. Combining the Breathing Techniques with the sport participation and practice can improve sports performance and provide greater enjoyment. In learning to breath well athletes will realize a much better endurance, increase in speed and timing, recovery time and VO2 Max.

Breathing Retraining Helps With More Than 150 Health Conditions

Other Conditions

Nasal Congestion

Poor breathing patterns result in immune system failure which can cause infections, swollen nasal tissue and polyps causing nasal congestion, sinusitis and rhinitis. Consistent use of breathing techniques easily and quickly begins to change the health of all nasal passages.

High Blood Pressure

Erratic poor breathing causes blood vessels to contract and blood pressure to increase. Learning to breathe correctly normalizes internal body gases and this can provide adequate carbon dioxide to free the smooth muscle around the blood vessels. Contraction will relax and begin to normalize blood pressure. Continued use of techniques keeps blood pressure normal.

Migraine/Headaches

Spasms of the blood vessels in the brain can develop from fast breathing. Hyperventilation increases our breathing rate and volume changing negatively our internal gas balance or Ph. Correcting breathing rate by learning and using breathing techniques we can calm and relieve the spasms and pain and begin to decrease the frequency of headaches.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia, muscle pain can develop when breathing hyperventilation causes muscle cell oxygenation to diminish. When a fast breath rate is habitual this chronic condition can become almost a permanent condition of our health. Breathing retraining through use of breathing techniques will improve muscle oxygenation and will relieve muscle pain.

Leg Cramps/Restless Leg

Night time leg cramps, including restless legs may be due to poor oxygenation of the muscle cells. Habitual fast breathing during the day sets up this deficiency and emerges as cramps and restless leg movement at night. Correct breathing can improve leg muscle, and increase nerve system oxygenation levels, relieving cramping and restlessness.

IBS/Constipation

A shortage of carbon dioxide in our lungs caused by fast breathing keeps the smooth muscles around the bowels from relaxing. All smooth muscles in the body need carbon dioxide to stay relaxed and function as support for the vessels they surround. Without carbon dioxide, bowel vessels are squeezed and contracted and gas inside the vessels develops causing pain and cramping. Breathing well will balance body gases and help restore normal bowel function.

Reynauds Disease

In the Renauds condition, there is a low arterial oxygenation level in the hands and feet causing poor circulation and extremely painful symptoms. Correcting breathing rate by using breathing techniques will relax smooth muscles surrounding the blood vessels of the hands and feet and, increase oxygenation and blood flow.

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue conditions can be indicative of very low levels of oxygen in all the cells of the body. It is an extreme condition and has possibly been in the works with poor breathing habits for a long period of time. Learning to breathe well with breathing techniques will start to increase cellular oxygenation throughout the body and begin to increase health.

Breathing Classes at Jan’s Breathing Zone

Standard Class

Standard Class includes five, 90-minute classes. Each class will include respiratory anatomy review, explanation and review of scientific theory of breathing and teaching and practice and coaching of Buteyko Breathing Techniques. The class includes a booklet for instruction and record keeping and a practice CD. Access and review by phone or email with the instructor is available during the entire class. Class cost is $450.

Extended Class

Extended Class includes eight, 90-minute classes. It will include each of the elements of the Standard Class and provides more coaching and time for instilling the techniques. Health conditions such as Sleep Apnea and or other health conditions of a longer standing or more serious nature may require more time for the learner to know the techniques and settle them into the body. The extended class provides the time for this. The Extended Class cost is $850.

Breathing Evalution

The 60 minute Breathing Evaluation provides a detailed look at each persons breathing patterns. It will include gathering a detailed respiratory history, examination of all symptoms related to breathing, measurement of Breathing Rate and Volume and a complete evaluation, analysis and report on each individual’s breathing patterns. Appointment for Breathing Evaluation is made prior to the Training program. It can become part of a first session of Breathing Retraining. Cost for breathing evaluation is $85.

Testimonials

What Our Clients Are Saying

  • Diagnosed with adult asthma, I struggled with constant inhalers and drugs my doctor kept prescribing for me. Finally frustrated and seeing a better way, I found the Buteyko Method information online, and was thrilled to see there was an LA office that could possibly teach and help me more. Jan has changed my life. I finally have the information and know how to understand my condition and now the tools to stop my asthma attacks without medications. It’s all about breathing and knowing how I breathe. I cannot recommend Jan and the Buteyko Method enough
